How did you get started making your products?
I have been skateboarding and making things since I was a teenager. It wasn’t until 2010 that I started creating things out of broken skateboards. Skateboard decks are constructed of multiple thin layers (veneers) of maple.
Which of your products is most time consuming to make and why?
All of my products are made from broken skateboards. Getting a broken skateboard to a state of usability is a multi step process. The grip tape has to be removed from the top of the deck first. Then, depending on what I am making, I will cut the board into different width strips. The strips then get sent through a planner to clean off both sides and make a good glue-able surface. Final step is glueing each strip into a usable form. From that form, most of my products can be made.
How do you spend your downtime?
I skateboard whenever I can. Every where I travel for events, I have my board with me. I enjoy getting out and skating around before a show.
