What made you start working in your craft? Was it a dream? Was it an accident? Was it payment on a bet?
My grandma. She taught me the joy and sense of accomplishment that comes
from making something from nothing.
Where do you work? What does your fantasy work space look like?
I work in a spare bedroom in my house. I just left my fantasy space... a huge
studio at Bainbridge Art Center with two large windows. If money was no
object... my workspace would have all custom made cabinets so EVERYTHING would have a place, and it would all be labeled.
We all have vending horror stories but has anything really really GOOD ever happened to you?
About 1 month after I started vending at the 17th Street Farmers' Market, I was
packing up to go home one Saturday. On my last trip from the stall to the car, a car pulled up and literally cut me off. This woman jumped out and handed me a business card...my first wholesale order!
If you had to pick a superhero spokesman for Lark Studio who would it be and why?
Moon Knight because he had many identities and a cool ride shaped like a moon!
Working on your craft can be a solitary and sometimes lonely venture. What keeps you company?
Crafting podcasts are very motivational. It's like having someone "there" crafting/creating with you. Also music... lots and lots of music. Current favs: Jamie Cullum (Catching Tales), Jamiroquai (Dynamite), and anything by Alice Russell.
We all have dreams of money – but what would you do if you had the TIME?
I'd do my business full time. So many ideas and crafts to try...so little time.
Crafting beverage of choice?
Cold filtered water over a ton of ice.
What is the one craft tool you can not live without?
ooo... this is hard. Craft product - I'd have to say api's Crafter's Pick The Ultimate! glue. It can go from fabric, to jewelry findings, to paper with no problems. Actual tool - my Ezy-Pull bodkin (the ONLY way to insert elastic or cording into a tube) and my bone folder tool (great on paper and you can use it as a corner turner for sewing projects).
